Riotorto is a country located in the woods of Montioni and the Tyrrhenian Sea. Once the area, which is part of the Maremma Livornese, was swampy and sparsely populated; later the area was reclaimed, so as to allow the realization of farms, producing grapes and olives. The first settlement in Riotorto was the medieval castle, destroyed in 1360 from Piombino, the remains of which are covered by vegetation. You can still locate the walls, the route of the moat and the remains of the church of San Giovanni.
CHIESA DI S. ANTONIO ABATE
It is the only parish in the country, located in the main square.
