PARCO NATURALE DI PUNTA FALCONE
Inserted between the Gulf of Salivoli and to Calamoresca in the park of Punta Falcone there are itineraries of remarkable naturalistic, bathing, historical and landscape.
The park, rich in vegetation and populated by colonies of cormorants and gulls, is the end of the promontory of Piombino and, from there, following a scenic route through long beach, Cala San Quirico, Buca delle Fate you get to the Gulf of Baratti .
In the highest part of Punta Falcone stands the Astronomical Observatory and a small museum with exhibits of World War II.

The Institute of Marine Biology and Ecology has seat in Palazzo Appiani, ex residence of the Princes of Piombino situated in Piazza G. Bovio in the city centre just opposite the Isle of Elba.
The aquarium is equipped with fifteen tanks contain unique specimens of the Mediterranean flora and fauna. Upon reservation you can take guided tours.

OASI WWF ORTI BOTTAGONE
Just a few Km from Piombino, the oasis covers approximately 120 hectares and is the provincial nature reserve.
In a coastal area, the salt marsh of the Orti and the one of the Bottagone freshwater form, together, a true oasis of biodiversity, which provides suitable habitats for many plant and animal species, in particular many bird species thanks to its strategic location along the Tyrrhenian migratory director and the Tuscan Archipelago.

CENTRO DI ENTOMOLOGIA

The center of entomology houses a collection which includes almost all the taxonomic orders of insects, fossils, minerals and shells. The exhibition is enriched by panels of written and images that provide in-depth scientific information for the knowledge of a vast and fascinating world.
The center, equipped with a projection room, offers visitors the opportunity to attend lectures and conferences dealing with the matter and with the use of a microscope to deepen their knowledge by observing all through a vision not normally presentable to the naked eye. There are also live specimens observed in terrariums and aquariums.

OSSERVATORIO ASTRONOMICO

In the splendid setting of Punta Falcone is the Astronomical Observatory: it was built in the seventies where during the Second World War there was a antiship battery.
It is one of the most important non-professional observation sites of the Tuscany Region.
